Venue Highlights
The Dingo Caves lie just 15km to the north of Birdsville in South Western Queensland. The caves were so named a number of years ago by local school children, for no other reason other than the children thought that dingos may use to caves to look after their pups. Being one of the few hillsides in the region, the Dingo Caves offers visitors a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside, including the rare desert Waddi Trees.
Sunsets from atop the cave are an ideal spot for pre-dinner champagne and hors doeuvres.
Guests are then able to take a short stroll to the bottom of the caves for a spectacular outback dinner under the stars.
Location
Birdsville is located in the far south west of Queensland and is accessible by both road and air services. Our airport is located just 200metres from the historic Birdsville Hotel and the Birdsville Caravan Park is just 500metres from the airport.
Accommodation
Birdsville has the Historic Birdsville Hotel currently with 19 modern aircondtioned units with an additional 20 on the way.
Additionally the caravan park has self contained modern cabins and motel style units.
During past events a tent city is erected within the grounds of the caravan park adding to the authenticity of the outback experience. Safarie tents have beds (with linen), carpeted floors, table & chairs and lighting and past feedback indicates that they are very comfortable and give delegates and attendees the opportunity to meet & mix.
Catering Information
The Birdsville Hotel is able to cater for meetings and conferences and our local sporting associations have had considerable experience catering for large groups of up to 400.
Recreational Facilities
Recreational activities include a visit to the Birdsville Working Museum (touted as one of the best in Australia), Blue Poles Art Gallery featuring magnificent watercolours by local artist Wolfgang John as well as works by local Aboriginal artist, Fiona Gadsby. Nature based activities include birdwatching, a visit to the rare and endangered Waddi Trees, a 4WD climb over the biggest sandhill in Australia. Birdsville as has a heritage walk around the town where visitors can, from interpretation displays, learn more about the life and times of our early pioneers.

Portable power supplies are available for connection to most AV equipment and lighting.

Testimonial Excerpt: We have just completed a 4WD trip to Alice Springs and across the Simpson Desert to Birdsville. We arrived in B'ville in time for the rain which cut the roads and left us stranded for 5 days. We thought we would be spending our time playing cards, however found ourselves attending several social events for the Qld Governor's visit including dinner at the Community Hall for approx 150 people, graciously sponsored by Diamantina Shire.
