Venue Highlights

Strahan is possibly the rarest of all the treasures Tasmania has to offer. The west coast is a rare and beautiful land of ancient mountains and lonely oceans.

Strahan offers a amazing choice of pre and post-tour experiences. It's the home port for the Gordon River Cruises and is the base for the West Coast Wilderness Railway.

For delegates seeking a truly Tasmanian experience, this destination is unbeatable.

Location

Strahan is located on the rugged west coast of Tasmania. Approximately a 4 hour drive from Launceston or 4.5 hours from Hobart.

Nestled alongside Macquarie Harbour, Strahan is an enchanting and scenic village located in World Heritage wilderness on Tasmania's west coast. The town is a fishing port which was brought to prominence as the home of the infamous Sarah Island Penal Settlement. Today, Strahan is recognised for its unique location, embraced by some of the world's last remaning temperate rainforest, majestic mountains and the mighty Gordon River.

Accommodation

Strahan Village offers 141 accommodation rooms including the luxuriously appointed Waterfront Executive Suites, spacious Harbour View Suites set on the hilltop and the Waterfront Cottages and Terraces designed to echo the history of the region with outlooks over Macquarie Harbour.

Catering Information

Our creative menus are inspired by the fresh local produce of the region, including Atlantic salmon farmed in the pristine waters of Macquarie Harbour.

Delegates can dine in View 42 Restaurant, the licensed Fish Cafe or at Hamers Bar & Grill. Or for a unique Strahan experience, why not enjoy a sunset dinner cruise on the Gordon River aboard the Lady Jane Franklin II, brunch at a 100-year-old train station in the remote Tasmanian wilderness, or a twilight BBQ on West Strahan Beach? Or simply enjoy pre-dinner drinks on the restaurant's balcony with the sun setting over the harbour - the perfect backdrop.

Recreational Facilities

GORDON RIVER CRUISES
A journey into the lower reaches of the Gordon River onboard our state-of-the-art catamaran, Lady Jane Franklin II to view the ancient, temperate rainforests with Huon pines, mirror-like calm waters and spectacular views.

WEST COAST WILDERNESS RAILWAY
Hailed as one of the great railway journeys, this historic 35km railway of tight curves and spectacular bridges meanders through rugged wilderness, dense rainforest and steep gorges. Looking for something different?

Technical Facilities

The Henty Room is located on the hilltop with floor to ceiling window views overlooking the Macquarie Harbour. Able to accommodation 80 delegates theatre-style, this is a breathtaking conference venue.

Breakout rooms are available for smaller groups and the nearby View 42 Restaurant & Bar offers lounge and balcony seating for catering or informal breakouts.
